Job Description

The Insurance Sales Representative in the Fidelity Insurance Agency, Inc. (FIA) identifies and solicits sales prospects based on the agreed Sales Department plan completed each year. The Insurance Sales Representative meets Officer Service Standards by maintaining excellent client relationships. Carries the agency’s reputation and professional manner of conducting business into the dealings with both clients and respective insurance carriers which Fidelity Insurance Agency, Inc. represents.


The Insurance Sales Representative will have the following responsibilities:

  • Authority:
    • Bind under the direction of the Commercial Manager/Sales Manager in accordance with insurance company contracts and agency policies and procedures. Receive premium payments payable to company and agency in accordance to agency policies and procedures. Provide Manager with signed Acord applications and/or supplementals as warranted for binding.
  • New Prospects:
    • Generate new prospects through solicitation and referrals
    • Meet written sales development plan goals
    • Respond to referrals and office leads
    • All leads will be followed up within the period of time needed to respond to clients needs; call-in leads to be handled the same day
    • Prepare complete, professional submissions, including applications, supplementals, photos, coverage summary and checklist, explaining when missing information will be supplied
    • All submissions must be on Acord or specialty applications, and entered into agency management system as a prospect
    • Attach a written narrative to each submission fully describing operations. 100% for all new accounts
    • List all criteria prospect will use to purchase insurance
    • Indicate target pricing and hot buttons
    • All submissions are predicated on the belief of an eventual sale
    • Be available for communication with the Commercial Manager/Sales, with respect to additional underwriting information that may be required
    • Respond accordingly to manager within an appropriate, timely manner
  • New & Renewal Policies:
    • Review expirations list with Manager/CSR, collecting from client as needed and notify Manager/CSR of any special coverage, handling and suggested marketing instructions
    • Contact clients between 90 and 120 days prior to renewal and complete renewal marketing instructions to Manager/CSR at least 60 days prior to renewal
    • Present a detailed proposal, upon completion by Manager/CSR, in a professional manner, complete with any suggested recommendations that may be outlined by Manager or Producer.
    • Close the Sale and collect necessary deposits and signed forms provided by the Manager/CSR
    • Producer is responsible for collecting deposit at time of binding and/or necessary financing as presented by the Commercial department.
  • Client/Company Relations:
    • Provide each client/prospect with a complete risk overview
    • Complete Insurance Survey and Coverage Check List on each account. (Available through Sage, or once established, by Fidelity Insurance Agency)
    • Round each account via ex-dates and follow-through.
    • Retain accounts by maintaining contact with appropriate clients, filling coverage needs and following completed client service standards
    • Make arrangements for annual delivery of policies.
    • Responsible for educating clients concerning agency payment expectations and cancellation procedures (new business and/or renewals) Producer is 100% responsible for down payment collection on new, renewal or Producer guarantees. (Accounting or Commercial Department is responsible for normal endorsements and installments unless advised to Producer accordingly)
    • Responsible for coverage adequacy on all commercial accounts
    • Responds to E&O audit requirements, as needed 6. Receive and promptly handle directed client and company calls
  • Work Habits:
    • Maintain communication with office while out of office and while in office by responding to voicemail, email or written/verbal directed correspondence
    • Notify Manager immediately of any potential E&O situation; advise same day of incident in writing
    • Accept and handle all duties and projects as may be directed by agency Principal and/or Manager
    • Perform by agreed action date
    • Be committed to a professional appearance and office interactions
  • Teamwork:
    • Review specific endorsements, claims, audits and cancellations when brought to Producer's attention
    • Respond accordingly, in writing, within a timely manner or notify appropriate person of expected date to receive
    • Notify Manager/CSR of action desired following Client contact for coverage change, Binders or endorsements
    • Notify Manager/CSR same day, in writing, either by e-mail, completed application. All appropriate correspondence to Manager/CSR is to be in written form. No verbal communication is permitted
    • Responsible for agency bill (45 days) late audit amounts and premium account collections once advised by Accounting, CSR or appropriate individual
    • Assist in collecting Premium Receivables when requested by Manager/Accounting
    • Assist CSR/Manager and other with contacting Clients. Coordinate with CSR/Manager in answering Company requests for additional information. Respond in a timely manner

Job Requirements

  • Florida 2-20 License
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management or Marketing preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of five years insurance sales experience as Account Executive/Sales Correspondent in Commercial Lines industry
  • Automotive Dealership experience, preferred
  • Effective team player who can work autonomously; strong initiative and work ethic; high degree of confidence, self-motivation, ambition and a self starter
  • Ability and desire to sell; demonstrated resiliency and optimism; cope with rejection; flourish in a competitive environment; be a relationship builder
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Experience in identifying, recommending and implementing process enhancements are a plus
  • Experience with automated agency management system, such as Applied or AMS360
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Mail
