Job Description

The Associate Development Manager will partner with JM&A business leaders, Human Resources, and external partners to support the associate development needs of our field organization.


Core responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a Strategy for Field Development that includes our overall Company Strategy combined with continual changes in both retail and the latest methods of development
  • Establishing a plan of change management associated with the execution of our strategy
  • Partnering with field associates to support individual and team development needs, development activity oversight and talent management/succession planning


Development of a Strategy:

  • Maintains Company Associate Development Strategy and manages evolution to meet ongoing and emerging needs of the customer and company
  • Requires understanding of the company strategy, evolution of the automotive industry and trends in the world of development to be used to guide JM&A through the necessary changes


Change Management /Talent Management/Succession Planning:

  • Establishes a clear plan of change to support the execution of our Associate Development Strategy
  • Identifies methods and specific points of execution to ensure our efforts are comprehensive in assisting the field with change
  • Works with leadership to reinforce importance of coaching and feedback as an ongoing part of associate development and as a way to reach high performance
  • Participates in Field Succession Planning efforts including participating in HIPO Identification for development and ensures developmental experiences are provided in order to ensure for ready successors and to increase bench strength

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or Organizational Development or equivalent experience required.
  • 5 – 7 years progressive experience in Organizational/Career Development or a related field required.
  • Experience creating and sustaining processes and programs that build leader capacity to reach stated objectives.
  • Outstanding consulting skills. Able to diagnose organizational opportunities in partnership with senior management and internal experts, and to design and deliver custom interventions.
  • Ability to make independent judgments, manage multiple projects and follow-thorough with measurement activities to ensure that interventions have positive impact on individual, team and overall company results.
  • Knowledge of leadership models and criteria, with ability to assess, diagnose, and write plans for leader development.
  • Experience guiding the evolution of talent management activities such as performance management, HiPo identification, succession planning, career development planning, etc.
  • Well-developed abilities to gather data, analyze issues, identify root causes, and surface difficult issues.
