Job Description

The PDC (Performance Development Center) Instructional Designer designs, develops, implements and updates face-to-face and online training courses and programs. The Instructional Designer utilizes instructional design methodologies, learning strategies and technology to support the development of curriculum content, training materials, training modules, teaching aids and manages all aspects of instructional development of programs that include, but not limited to: sales skills, management and leadership development, compliance, new trends, and new technology in the automotive industry.

 

This individual is expected to interview subject matter experts, the PDC trainers, internal departments, and external business partners to illicit their expertise and input to ensure accuracy and standardization of all training materials and content.

 

This individual will be expected to adhere to project plans and deadlines in order to deliver accurate, high-quality curriculum designed for video, ILT, and web-based mediums of delivery.

 

Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Provides planning, designing, developing, documenting and evaluation during the development of new instructor led and online courses.
  • Provides planning, designing, developing, documenting and evaluation during the redevelopment of new instructor led and online courses.
  • Develops curriculum and learning materials including facilitator/instructor and participant manuals, course proposals, course agendas, course outlines, exams, training videos, and web-based training modules.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple overlapping projects in an often changing environment
  • Analyzes learning needs and consults with SMEs for course design and content in both face-to-face and e-learning environments.
  • Collaborate with Program Strategy Manager to develop and review proposed project efforts to determine scope, key milestones, and timeframe.
  • Adheres to quality assurance review process of all existing and new training programs including.
  • Reviews and includes feedback from end of course surveys and student evaluations into the quality assurance and course maintenance processes.
  • Work collaboratively across functional areas to manage and coordinate new program launches (e.g., Marketing, Internal Departments, Operations Team, Training Team, and Legal Team).
  • Primary expert in creating, maintaining and implementing copyright requirements.
  • Programs in web authoring languages and/or uses industry standard authoring programs to develop online courses and interactive such as Articulate Storyline.
  • Tracks program development life cycles; ensures that any problems are addressed, escalated when needed, and resolved quickly.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS an asset
  • Training and experience in applying instructional design practices and methodologies to support training, learning and eLearning development.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, course development methodologies (e.g. ADDIE, SAM), and Kirkpatrick's training evaluation levels.
  • Knowledge of learning management system technology
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrates thought leadership in instructional design, development technology and/or interactivities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Learning Design and Technology, Organizational Psychology or related field, required.
  • Minimum of three years experience in instructional design and course development and eLearning in a corporate or institutional environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in eLearning instructional design, using industry best practices.
  • Must provide a portfolio of your work in order to be considered for an interview.
