Job Description

The Manager of Strategic Planning and Competitive Intelligence has overall accountability for delivery of the annual strategic plan and providing competitive information and insights to assist the entire organization, resulting in:

  • Delivery of JM&A’s annual strategic plan
  • Responsible for working with the senior management to perform the ongoing strategic planning for the business unit, identify key strategic initiatives, manage the strategic planning process, and engage in business development activities including evaluating mergers and acquisitions opportunities.
  • This includes establishing the timetable to coordinate with JM Family Enterprises' corporate-wide strategic planning process,
  • Introducing new ideas providing market and competitive insights to senior management through broad market and customer research methods, challenging the thinking of the participants, and creating an intellectually stimulated environment that fosters innovative thinking and challenges conventional thinking surrounding our business.
  • Continuous management of competitive intelligence and business insights
  • Execution of strategic deep dives and initiatives that drive JM&A’s growth and operational excellence
  • This position will require the identification and development of new data sources, analysis of the industry, and developing insights on the competitive market place.
  • Engage in industry analysis focusing on trends in the industry, localized market analyses, competitive intelligence, and internal business intelligence data.  This will include sourcing information from various channels and developing research and analysis skills in the department’s team members. Focus will be on translating the findings of analysis and research efforts into actionable insights for senior management. This will require creativity and new ways of thinking about the business.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in business, engineering, economics, or computer science preferred.
  • Masters degree in business, economics,  or computer science or like equivalent a plus
  • 3-5 years leading corporate strategy, strategic planning, and / or strategic initiatives.
  • Proven record of leading an executive team and organization through a full life cycle of strategic planning.
  • Background in a strategic planning methodology such as balance score carding or equivalent.  
  • Experience leading corporate strategy initiatives, including organizational design, asset investments, M&A, sales strategies, technology investment.
  • Market research and competitive analysis skills and experience also desired.
  • Experience working in a technology, business process and/or strategy consulting capacity strongly preferred.
  • Strong executive presence and influence and communication skills a must.
